Student Government
The student government is the governing body of ASUCD. With a $20M operating budget the funds are used for host of student services and student jobs. ASUCD is comprised of many units and services and approximately 50% of the operating budget goes straight back into student jobs. Currently ASUCD employees about 1500 hourly employees and hundreds of opportunities to volunteer and gain valuable experiential learning.
The student government is comprised of three branches of government Executive, Legislative and Judicial. ASUCD hosts elections in the fall and spring quarters respectively and all undergraduate students have the opportunity to elect the President, Interval Vice President, External Affairs Vice President, International Student Representative, Transfer Student Representative, Student Advocate and 12 senators.
The Executive Branch consists of the ASUCD President, Internal Vice President, ASUCD Controller, External Affaird Vice President, International Student Representative, and Transfer Student Representative, as well as their respective staff.
The Legislative Branch is headed by the ASUCD Senate. Under it is a large support network containing six commissions, and dozens of permanent and special committees.
The Judicial Branch serves as the adjudicative body of ASUCD. The ASUCD constitution gives the Judicial Council the authority to issue binding rulings on disputes that arise under the Constitution and Bylaws.
