Hi, my fellow Aggies! My name is Shaniah Branson and I am the current ASUCD Vice President. I came to the University of California, Davis (UCD) as a transfer student from Huntington Beach, California. I am currently a senior—majoring in History with a Communications minor. I will graduate and conclude my final year during the Spring 2019 quarter and move back to Southern California to complete my paralegal certification. My career goal is to become a human/civil rights lawyer as my energy has been focused on advocating for social justice, equity, and inclusion for sheltered and discriminated communities.
The rich history of strong leaders found within UCD make me proud to call it my campus. During my tenure, I want to contribute to ASUCD’s mission of creating a fulfilling and comfortable experience for our scholars during their academic endeavors. To do so, I want to focus on increasing the efforts of Transfer and Reentry student outreach and engagement, working with campus officials to ensure that student necessities and resources continue to be the top priority (i.e. affordable and accessible housing, standing up to sexism and closing the leadership gap on campus) — the list goes on.
While I have my own goals in mind, I am here to serve you. Initiating and creating the change that we want to see on campus requires a collaborative effort and I am always available, open, and willing to listen and discuss the perspective, and potential change for our university (and nationally). Please feel free to reach out to me!
I look forward to collaborating with you all as we aim to nurture the diversity at UCD. To hear more about the goals I have or share ideas on how we can improve our campus, please feel free to e-mail me or visit me during my office hours.
