Disability Rights Advocacy Committee (DRAC)

Description: The purpose of the Disability Rights Advocacy Committee, hereinafter referred to as DRAC, is to provide student recommendations to the Student Disability Center, uplift differently-abled student voices within ASUCD, and engage in outreach and destigmatization efforts regarding differently abled-students.

DREAM Committee
Chair: Alejando Cervantes
Description: The DREAM Committee’s primary goal is to lead on the advocacy of resources for undocumented students and their community on the UC Davis campus. These resources are meant to provide students with the needed and much desired tools they need in order to lead a successful academic and professional life.
This is to be achieved through the creation of a variety of projects that satisfy the needs of the students. In order to create these projects the DREAM Committee works hard to identify successful partnerships, inspire community involvement and demand awareness and involvement of ASUCD.

Mental Health Initiative (MHI)

Description: The UC Davis Mental Health Initiative hosts the UC Davis Mental Health Conference, UC Davis Mental Health Awareness Month, and Counseling Services Student Advisory Board, which aim to engage students in destigmatization and education efforts, prompt attendees to organize around mental health issues, and offer them the opportunity for self-reflection and healing through mental health discourse.

Sexual Assault Awareness Advocacy Committee (SAAAC)

Description: The purpose of the SAAAC is to bring students together to provide intersectional, trauma informed advocacy for improving campus climate, and to facilitate the expansion of accessibility to educational resources about sexual violence, sexual harassment, and sexual assault. It is additionally the purpose of this committee to ensure that all students are made aware of the reporting process both through the university and law enforcement, victim advocacy resources, confidential support services, information about sexual violence in UC policies as well as students’ rights under Title IX.

Student Health and Wellness Committee (SHAWC)

Description: The purpose of the Student Health and Wellness Committee, herein after referred to as SHAWC, is to plan health and wellness related events on a quarterly basis to support the health and wellness goals of the student population and engage in outreach and collaboration with health-focused organizations on campus. The access to critical resources for both mental and physical health is crucial for the continuation of The University of California, Davis’ success, but more importantly, the health of those involved in making this University one of the most distinguished schools within the world.

Student Sustainability Career Fair Committee (SSCFC)
Chair: Julia Pano
Description: The purpose of the SSCF shall be to run a sustainability career fair, thus introducing more sustainability based organizations to UC Davis to be held once a quarter in the academic year. This committee defines sustainability as the balance of three pillars that are economics, equity, and environmental protection. SSCF shall primarily focus on outreach and education by providing a service to students who are searching for environmentally based careers and internships. This will be a great learning experience for all involved as it will introduce students to new companies and allow them to explore careers beyond the traditional environmental professions.

Transfer, Reentry and Veterans Committee (TRVC)
Chair: Maya Clark
Description: The TRVC seeks to advocate for the unique interests and needs of transfer, reentry, and veteran students of UC Davis. As these students are frequently overlooked and often disempowered, we employ a research-based approach in order to quantify TRV student needs, experiences, and obstacles they face. Consequently we devise events, workshops, legislation, and outreach projects in order to eliminate barriers and cater to specific needs of this broad community.

Undergraduate Student Parent Committee (USPC)

Chair Pronouns: She/Her
Description: The Undergraduate Student Parent Commmittee (USPC) provides direct representation, offers skill-building opportunities, and allows space for advocacy for its associated undergraduate population. It aims to uplift undergraduate students who are caring for dependent children or have caregiving responsibilities for young family members, students who are pregnant, and students whose partners are expecting. Furthermore, it helps bridge the gap between ASUCD and any issues regarding the student parent community while simultaneously leading advocacy efforts to promote gender and racial equity through a parental lens here at UC Davis.
