The Coffee House was established in 1967 by the Associated Students of the University of California at Davis. Originally located in East Hall, it was founded with the concept of creating a small coffee shop that would provide high quality food and offer an environment where students could relax between classes.  In 1973 the Coffee House changed location to the East side of the Memorial Union, where it was run entirely by students with only $75,000 in sales per year.  As part of a general MU expansion plan, it moved again in the spring of 1991, this time to the West Side of the MU, where it happily prospers today.

The Coffee House is currently a $3,200,000 retail operation staffed by 4 full-time and career employees and over 240 student employees. Approximately 40 part time supervisors are responsible for daily and weekend oversight and report to 4 student managers, while the full time staff oversees all aspects of the operation, including annual budgeting, menu development, training, marketing, customer service, and the hiring of approximately 100 new employees each year.

As the most popular dining facility at UC Davis, the ASUCD Coffee House has been providing some of the most nutritious and inexpensive food on campus for the last 30 years, and continues to do so for more than 7,000 customers daily.

The Coffee House is a great and convenient place to get a healthy meal, a quick snack, to study, or even find employment.  The Coffee House has a large and varied selection of food, including bagels, sandwiches, vegetarian selections, baked goods, pizza, and burritos.  Several food items are locally grown and certified organic, and 95% of all menu items are made from scratch by student employees.
