The Backyard Beekeeping course will give participants the background they need to establish and manage beehives of their own. The course is open to people of all experience levels, from novices to masters. An outdoor hands-on component with live hives at the UC Davis Student Farm will be integrated with classroom discussion to give participants experience handling bees. Topics will cover honeybee biology, apiculture equipment, and seasonal management. The focus will be oriented towards raising healthy hives to reap the material, nutritional and spiritual rewards of organic beekeeping. Materials: $10 for handouts |
