From the preamble of the ASUCD Constitution:
The Associated Students, University of California, Davis is hereby constituted to represent its membership in the University of California and in the greater community and to increase the role and impact of its members on those decisions affecting their lives.
The Association is also constituted to create and provide services and activities which its membership shall consider important to fulfilling the experience of being a student attending the University of California, Davis.
The Associated Students, University of Calfornia, Davis (ASUCD) is the official student government of UC Davis. Similar to the US government, ASUCD has an Executive, a Legislative, and a Judicial branch. The association’s $11.1 million dollar operational budget funds a host of student services such as Unitrans, KDVS, the Coffee House, the Bike Barn, Campus Copies and Classical Notes, and the Experimental College. ASUCD is primarily student-managed and staffed, employing an upwards of 1,500 students. ASUCD offers golden opportunities to engage in leadership activities that range from student advocacy to management and finance and to event planning.
